Personal care brand AKT London has expanded its UK retail footprint with a nationwide launch at premium beauty retailer Space NK.

The British brand is now stocked in 30 Space NK stores across the UK, as well as online. The assortment includes AKT’s Deodorant Balm alongside its Body Scrub, Body Balm, Body Wash Concentrate and Everyday Body Oil.

Founders Andy Coxon and Ed Currie said: "Partnering with Space NK is a dream come true for us. Not just because of its work championing creativity and innovation in the sector, but also because the first-ever Space NK launched just around the corner in Covent Garden, the very heart of theatreland - it’s like it was meant to be!"

The expansion comes as AKT continues its growth trajectory, having sold more than 1.75 million products globally, with an average of one product sold every 30 seconds.

Currie and Coxon first met in 2015 while performing in a West End production in London. During the run, they experienced difficulties finding deodorants that met the physical demands of performing both on and off stage. This led them to begin developing a natural alternative, which they tested over a three-year period with friends and fellow cast members. AKT officially launched in 2020.

To build early momentum, the founders focused on the theatre community, distributing samples throughout London’s West End to performers and backstage crews. This approach helped establish brand awareness and foster a loyal customer base.

The theatre industry remains central to the brand’s identity, with AKT products now used in theatres across the UK, as well as on television and film sets internationally. The brand also expanded into the US, including a presence on Broadway in New York.

To mark the Space NK launch, AKT will host activations at the retailer’s Oxford Street flagship store, including live performances, appearances by current West End cast members, and a planned surprise from the London Palladium’s balcony.

Martin Croteau, Senior Vice President of Global Sales at AKT, said: "This is a huge moment for AKT. Space NK’s impeccable reputation with consumers, and commitment to supporting brands that innovate in category makes it the perfect retail stage for our bodycare range."
