Beauty Pie scraps monthly spending limits in new membership model

Beauty Pie has scrapped "stifling" monthly limits for members who sign up to its newly- launched premium membership model.

Acknowledging that its original previous membership was “a little bit complicated,” Beauty Pie said that its new Beauty Pie Plus scheme would give its most loyal members the flexibility and convenience “to shop when they wanted and for what they wanted.”

Created in response to member feedback and sales figures, the new scheme eliminates monthly spending limits in favour of an upfront spending allowance that renews every year.

Commenting on the change Beauty Pie said: “We recently polled our members on their shopping habits, and learned that most felt too stifled by monthly limits, so we've introduced this new membership to be the very best combo of value and convenience for our members.

“On the back end, we’re also seeing rampant inflation across many areas of our supply chain (raw ingredients, bottles, manufacturing, paper, and yes, shipping).

“We’re hoping that by allowing members to shop more, across all of our categories, we’ll be able to reach higher economies of scale. Then, together, we can keep bringing everyone the absolute lowest prices possible.”

Beauty Pie Plus costs £59 a year and offers a £3,600 spending allowance.

All existing members are being offered the chance to upgrade and the scheme is also available to new members.

Founded by beauty entrepreneur Marcia Kilgore in December 2016, Beauty Pie seeks to “challenge” the old definition of ‘luxury’ beauty.

The buying club offers members a vast range of Beauty Pie branded products sourced from the world’s “best suppliers in premium skincare, makeup, haircare and bodycare” – for realistic prices free from “the crazy 10X typical industry markups.”

Last week Beauty Pie raised £72m following a Series B funding round - a move which it said would help it expand into new markets and experimental shops.
