In a Downing Street briefing today, the Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden gave the green light for the beauty sector, including beauty salons and nail bars to reopen on Monday 13 July 2020.

In the statement he said: "Hairdressers have been able to reopen, and beauticians can do so now from Monday, will some restrictions."

He added these measures are reversible and dependent on any local spikes.

"However the green light doesn't apply to any treatments on the face, including face waxing, threading, eyelash treatments, make-up application, dermarolling, microblading, electrolysis on the face"

At the Downing Street briefing, Mr Dowden also spontaneously created a new slogan in the fight against COVID-19, saying it is now time to "work out to help out".

He added: "I'm really urging people to get out there and to play their part: buy the tickets for outdoor plays and musical recitals, get to your local gallery and support your local businesses.

"Our fight began with a collective effort and I really hope it will end with one."
