Boots expands its services, targeting 40+ women with free Health MOTs
High street mainstay Boots has relaunched its free Health MOT, offering 15-minute health appointments for people over 40 in England. As part of the service, the retailer is offering free blood pressure checks to encourage the public to stay on top of their health.
With an estimated five million people in the UK living with undiagnosed high blood pressure or hypertension, Boots is encouraging those eligible to book a free Health MOT. During the service, customers will receive an NHS blood pressure check, an optional BMI calculation and waist circumference measurement, as well as healthy living advice.
Health MOTs, which can be booked online, are available in most Boots stores to people in England for those over 40 who do not have an existing diagnosis of high blood pressure.
Aimi Dickinson, Deputy Superintendent Pharmacist at Boots, said: "High blood pressure is something that can affect any of us, especially as we get older and even if we feel totally healthy. Most people with high blood pressure will not have any symptoms, so it is important to get your blood pressure checked if you are 40 and over.
"The free Health MOT at Boots takes just 15 minutes and if we do identify high blood pressure at the appointment, we will advise on the most appropriate next steps, which may be a 24 hour at-home blood pressure measurement or referral to your GP.
"While a diagnosis of high blood pressure might feel a little overwhelming, there are healthy lifestyle factors that we can consider to help support our overall health, including our blood pressure."
The high street chain also now offers over 160 services online or in-store, with travel services and vaccinations popular in the lead-up to the warmer months.
Pharmacy sales were up 5.8%, driven by its healthcare services. It comes after new skincare services launched, further strengthening Boots position as the "one stop shop for skincare". The new services include a Skin Condition Diagnosis Service and a treatment for Skin ageing and Hyperpigmentation.
