Boots has announced the appointment of Anthony Hemmerdinger as its new Retail Director.

Hemmerdinger joins Boots from Asda, where he most recently served as Chief Operating Officer since 2020. Prior to this, he worked as Senior Vice President Retail Operations and Vice President Retail South at the supermarket chain.

In addition, Hemmerdinger has also worked various roles at Greene King, Sainsbury's and Carphone Warehouse. In his new role, Hemmerdinger will oversee retail operations and store estate at Boots.

Hemmerdinger replaces Pete Bowrey, who left the company earlier in the summer.

The announcement comes after the launch of Boots' new value 'everyday' range to help customers afford essential products amid the cost-of-living crisis. Starting from 50p, the products are all priced at £1.50 or less.

The health and beauty retailer also recently announced the launch of its upcoming marketplace, which will welcome third-party brands to its digital offering and extend its range of products available online from Spring 2023.
