More than 100,000 people have flocked to Boots stores across the country to be the first to take advantage of the the new free No7 Pro Derm Scan service.

Launched by No7 last month, the first-of-its-kind diagnostic service aims to bring dermatologist-grade technology to the high street, continuing No7’s legacy of pioneering new beauty categories and products that are scientifically proven to work.

In its first month, the service has received 5-star reviews from 96% of customers, praising the service for its personalised diagnosis and tailored recommendations. Gillian from Southwark, pictured above, received the 100,000th Pro Derm Scan at the Boots Covent Garden store.

During the free 15-minute consultation a No7 Beauty Advisor uses the hand-held diagnostic device to perform skin condition and tone analysis, providing a personalised recommendation of skincare and cosmetics. As a sign of No7’s commitment to quality and service, any products purchased as part of the scan service comes with a four-week moneyback guarantee.

The No7 Pro Derm Scan is the result of six years’ development and partnership with Canadian tech firm FitSkin, Consultant Dermatologist Professor Rod Hay, and former Kodak PhD colour scientists. The technology captures images of the skin at 30 times magnification and uses machine learning technology to evaluate the results.

20 million skin areas are analysed per scan, to provide scientifically validated analysis of skin tone and four skin parameters: fine lines and wrinkles, pores, oil balance and hydration. The device has already been granted four international patents, with a further 16 patents pending.

Richard Bowden, UK Marketing Director, No7 Beauty Company, said: “No7 has been a trailblazer in beauty and skincare for over 85 years, and the positive customer reception to Pro Derm Scan is another testament to that. This service – which was six years in development – is a game-changer in its field, delivering a step-change in accessible skin diagnostics and enabling customers to make informed decisions about their skincare regime.

“Reaching the 100,000 milestone, and with an average customer rating of 4.9 stars, demonstrates the brand’s industry-leading expertise. We are extremely proud of the technology behind this new service, with scientific know-how being the foundation of the No7 brand, and we remain committed to delivering breakthrough beauty and skincare innovations with proven benefits.”

Grace Vernon, Global Cultural Insight & Trend Lead at Boots UK, added: “The unprecedented access to information about skincare ingredients has turned us into skin-tellectuals in recent years. As our knowledge has evolved, so have our requirements, and the fantastic response to the Pro Derm Scan demonstrates this renewed focus on skin health, with customers seeking evermore to understand their own skin type and individual needs.”
