Boots taps into K-beauty trend with brand expansion
Building on the success of cult K-beauty favourites such as Beauty of Joseon, Anua, Medicube and Laneige, Boots has introduced four new brands to its line-up.
VT Cosmetics, Purito, Dr Althea and Fwee have now launched online and in over 80 stores nationwide, bringing "the latest in Korean beauty innovation to UK beauty lovers".
Blending K-beauty innovation with science-backed skincare, VT Cosmetics' hero product - the Reedle Shot - features microscopic spicule technology that mimics micro-needling to boost absorption and skin renewal for a smoother, brighter complexion.
Purito is a clean, contemporary K-skincare brand that draws inspiration from nature and is rooted in simplicity, while Dr Althea is known for its healing philosophy, creating science-backed formulations that "soothe, strengthen and restore the skin".
Described as a "rising star" in Korean makeup, Fweea is known for its playful, youthful aesthetic and "innovative" formulas. Its viral Pudding Pot delivers a soft, blurred matte finish for lips and cheek.
Grace Vernon, Head of Global Foresight & Trends at Boots, said: "Korea continues to lead the way in shaping global beauty trends, with its innovative approach and viral product launches capturing the attention of skincare enthusiasts worldwide.
"What sets K-beauty apart is its ability to merge cutting-edge science with gentle ingredients and non-invasive solutions. We’re seeing exciting new delivery systems which mimic the effects of micro-needling, as well as advanced ingredients like exosomes and PDRN - technologies inspired by the aesthetics industry.
"These innovations are redefining what’s possible in everyday skincare, making high-performance results more accessible than ever."
It’s no secret that Korean beauty is trending, and Zalando confirmed this last week in a new report. Celebrated for its innovative ingredients and gentle, step-by-step skincare routines that prioritise long-term skin health, K-beauty is gaining popularity through a growing range of brands and products.
And while matte skin is gaining traction, ‘dewy skin’ remains the dominant trend, with searches on Zalando soaring by 311%.
It comes as one Korean beauty product is flying off the shelves at Boots almost every 15 seconds.
