Brad Pitt has unveiled a genderless skincare line, Le Domaine, in partnership with renowned winemakers, the Perrin family.

The Hollywood star says the new line is anything but a celebrity skincare range and is focused on bringing skincare back to the basics of nature.

Pitt worked with the Perrin family, of the Château Beaucastel, on his Miravel Rosé wine and the new range centres around the concept of “from the vine to the skin” with anti-oxidants being the main focus.

“Le Domaine is not meant to be a celebrity brand,” Pitt said in a statement. “It is an anti-aging cosmetics range for every man and woman. I love the idea of a genderless line.”

“Our goal is to imitate the organic cycles of nature. There is no waste in nature. Anything left over or discarded becomes food for something else. This exemplary circular system is the inspiration for Le Domaine," he added.

As well as the Perrin family, Pitt enlisted the help of Dr Pierre-Louis Teissedre from the University of Bordeaux, who specialises in wine and human health, and Professor Nicolas Lévy from Marseille.

The line includes The Serum, The Cream, The Cleansing Emulsion, and The Fluid Cream. The products each contain a “potent combination” of two exclusive active ingredients GSM10 and ProGR3, developed in collaboration with Teissedre and Lévy.

“For a long time, I had tossed around the idea of creating a skin care line. When the Perrins told me about the research they had conducted with Dr Teissedre on the antioxidant property of the grapes and leaves, it clicked. We rapidly moved on with the concept of developing a unique sustainable skin care brand merging state-of- the-art research with the best natural ingredients," Pitt said.

The research in question began more than 10 years ago. The Perrin family working alongside Dr Teissedre to characterise Chateau de Beaucastel’s 13 grape varieties and identify the combination with the most potent antioxidant effects. The result was GSM10, a patented-pending active compound extracted from the seeds and skin of Beaucastel grapes that has maximised antioxidative powers delivering firmer, radiant, more elastic, and smoother skin.

Professor Lévy, professor of Human & Medical Genetics and head of the medical genetics department in Marseille, meanwhile has been leading research on progeria, an extremely rare genetic disease that causes children to age rapidly. His findings led to the development of ProGR3. The cosmetic active compound, derived from three natural molecules present in plant extracts, vine sarments, camomile and green tea, is said to be capable of slowing the natural ageing process.

The range is vegan and suitable for all skin types with between 96% and 99% of ingredients of natural origin. It is packaged in recycled glass bottles and jars with cork stoppers cut from the Chateau's wine barrels. All products, apart from The Emulsion, are refillable.

“I’m a big fan of every single one and use The Cream daily,” Pitt said. “I really like the texture because it’s creamy, moisturises quickly, and makes my skin much more comfortable under the California sun.”

The range is priced from £60 to £290 and is available from www.le-domaine.com. Retail partners are expected to be revealed soon.
