The British Beauty Council has announced the appointment of British hair colourist and brand founder, Josh Wood, as its new Vice-Chair.

His appointment reinforces the organisation's mission to champion the "value of beauty", which is underscored by an annual report highlighting the industry’s significant economic impact.

Described as "a visionary in colour and creativity", Wood is a highly acclaimed British hair colourist, entrepreneur, and educator, originally from Barnsley, South Yorkshire.

He began his career in hairdressing at the age of 17, training through a Youth Training Scheme before advancing to work in Vidal Sassoon salons in Leeds, London, and New York.

Known for his influential work in fashion, celebrity styling, and media, Wood has made it his mission to elevate hair colour as a powerful form of personal expression and confidence.

He established his own salon, Josh Wood Atelier, in Holland Park, London, in 2011, and also operates a second location at the luxurious Claridge's hotel in Mayfair.

In 2019, he launched Josh Wood Colour, a brand offering salon-quality, vegan-friendly, ammonia-free home hair colour kits designed to deliver professional results at home.

Since April 2020, he has also served as a Director on the Executive Board of the British Beauty Council.
