British Beauty Council names Rita Ora as Global Ambassador
The British Beauty Council has named singer-songwriter and beauty industry entrepreneur Rita Ora as its new Global Ambassador as it looks to strengthen its global presence.
Under the new partnership, Ora will collaborate closely with the council to spotlight its work future proofing the beauty sector for all, while elevating the industry as whole.
Bringing a wealth of experience from the music, fashion and beauty industries, including her performance-led haircare brand TYPEBEA, the influence of Ora will be "effective and invaluable" in the support of raising awareness of diversity and inclusion within the sector.
"Beauty has always been a source of creativity throughout my career, and I feel fortunate to have worked with some of the most influential and talented professionals in the industry. I’ve long believed that beauty is intimately connected to self-expression and confidence, which inspired me to start my hair brand, TYPEBEA," said Ora.
"I’m proud to support the British Beauty Council in its mission to elevate the industry, celebrate individuality, and promote growth. The team are doing outstanding work, positioning British beauty as a creative powerhouse, a key economic contributor, a champion of diversity, and a source of well-being."
Founded in 2018, the British Beauty Council is a not-for-profit organisation that represents the beauty industry by generating conversation to tackle issues facing the sector.
The appointment of Ora hopes to increase engagement with the British Beauty Council's work on a global scale.
Sitting alongside existing ambassadors and advisory board members, including Sam Chapman, Wendy Rowe, Kate Moss and Melanie Grant, together these experts will drive the council’s future roadmaps forward, to ensure the organisation is solving challenges facing the industry.
Millie Kendall OBE, CEO of the British Beauty Council, said: "I am proud to announce our collaboration with Rita Ora, and look forward to working with her to champion and elevate the various initiatives of the British Beauty Council.
"Ora joins a host of existing ambassadors who work closely with the organisation to celebrate, develop and support our industry. Her experience and influence will be welcomed and only further our progress in reaching our global goals."
The news coincides with the launch of British Beauty Week 2024, taking place from 23-27 October.
Running under the theme of 'A Beauty Industry that Looks Like You', the event is designed to highlight the importance of representation and inclusion in British beauty.
It attempts to inspire beauty brands and consumers to celebrate the various facets of the industry, whilst considering the ongoing work that needs to be done to ensure all voices are heard, and appreciated, in the sector.
