The British Beauty Council has appointed a new cohort of industry professionals to its Advisory Board, welcoming experts in technology, fragrance, makeup artistry and barbering.

Beauty futurist and founder of V-metics, the world's first virtual cosmetic software, Dr Alex Box has joined the board, alongside British perfumer Lyn Harris, BAFTA Award-winning hair and makeup designer Nadia Stacey, and founder of Pall Mall Barbers, Richard Marshall.

Professor Sandeep Ranote, medical director and consultant child and adolescent psychiatrist, has also joined the Advisory Board to "aid the organisation’s work in areas of self-esteem, mental health and representation".

Offering strategic insights in order to "propel cross-industry campaigns, policy change and awareness", the new additions will sit alongside the organisation's existing members and ambassadors, including Kate Moss, Bobbi Brown, Sam McKnight and Caroline Hirons, amongst others.

Millie Kendall OBE, CEO of the British Beauty Council, said: "We are pleased to welcome a new group of beauty professionals on board as the council gears up to enter its next roadmap.

"The industry leaders are vital to our ongoing engagement with the nuanced areas of our industry and provide us with unique insight into the true challenges and opportunities facing our sector."

The Council is also launching a new Media Advisory Board, which brings together professionals from across the beauty publishing environment to reinforce the collective influence of beauty communications in the UK.

With experts from traditional print media to digital content creation, the Media Advisory Board boasts unique insights, reach, and impact to help raise awareness of the British Beauty Council’s aims and ambitions.

The newly appointed board is chaired by Meribeth Parker, current Chair of the British Beauty Council and Senior Vice-President of Platforms and Partnerships at News UK. Members include journalist, presenter and broadcaster Sali Hughes and Grazia UK Editor-in-Chief Hattie Brett, plus more.

The appointments come after news emerged last month that the British beauty industry grew by 11% last year, growing faster than other European markets as new figures show it could even overtake France by the end of 2025.

If this growth continues, the British market is expected to exceed the size of the French by the end of next year. The UK beauty industry is already bigger than those in Germany, Italy and Spain.
