Amazing what you can find at the back of the store if you rummage around for long enough. At Ted Baker, they’ve sifted through the piles of swim shorts and garish floral shirts and come up with a real bag of goodies: a £200m rescue funding package.

Presumably there was still no sign of the £58m of inventory that went missing last year. Still, at least Ray Kelvin wasn’t lurking back there with his arms out. It was after the abrupt departure of its colourful founder last year, amid accusations of “forced hugging”, that the chain began to dramatically unravel.
