Chanel Beauty unveils illuminated winter wonderland in Covent Garden
Covent Garden has been sprinkled with a little extra Parisian magic this December, courtesy of Chanel. Marking more than a decade since the maison opened its first flagship in the historic London piazza, the brand has debuted an immersive, illuminated installation that transforms the space into a star-dusted festive escape.
Chanel’s connection to the neighbourhood runs deep. It was the first beauty brand to host a pop-up in the area in 2012, later opening a standalone beauty boutique, which helped cement Covent Garden as a magnet for luxury beauty retail.
The maison has frequently used the piazza as a stage for creative expression, from pop-ups to fragrance activations, making Covent Garden a natural backdrop for its latest spectacle. For example, earlier this year, in March, Chanel hosted a free-to-enter immersive experience in Covent Garden to celebrate all things Rouge Coco.
The Christmas edition, open from 6-28 December (excluding Christmas Day), is a celebration of Chanel’s most emblematic symbols - from the protective lion and delicate camellia to golden wheat, shimmering pearls and the iconic comet.

Each motif is reimagined as a celestial light sculpture, arranged as though they were constellations. At the heart of it all sits a glowing Nº5 bottle, encased in a spiralling helix of light.
Visitors are invited to wander through the installation, which has been designed as an open environment rather than a traditional queue-and-pose moment. Adding to the atmosphere, live music performances will take place every hour from 2 pm to 6:30 pm, running on Thursdays through Saturdays.
An ode to the maison’s heritage, this installation is a rare chance to experience Chanel beyond the boutique - under the stars and free to the public.
