Chanel has named Ugandan-Candadian actress Whitney Peak as the new ambassador for its Coco Mademoiselle fragrance.

The partnership makes Peak the first Black fragrance ambassador for Chanel. She is already a US brand ambassador and featured in Chanel’s 2022 handbag campaign.

In a series of Instagram posts, Chanel said: "Whitney Peak is the new Coco Mademoiselle. Charismatic and natural, she embodies the Chanel Elegance."

The 20-year-old actress is best known for her role in HBO's 2021 revival of Gossip Girl, as well as Disney + film Hocus Pocus 2.

Peak follows in the footsteps of supermodel Kate Moss and actress Keira Knightley, both of whom have previously served as ambassadors for the Coco Mademoiselle fragrance.

The news comes after a number of beauty ambassador appointments from various luxury brands, including Hunter Schafer for Mugler and Sydney Sweeney for Armani Beauty - both known for their roles in drama series Euphoria.
