Clean skin and haircare brand grüum has developed a new range of sustainable wash bags made from ocean-bound plastic.

The Loop Wash Bag is made from 100% recycled plastic pellets derived from ocean-bound plastic, such as bottles, fishing nets and flip flops, that has been rescued from the sea or intercepted before it reached the shoreline.

Available in three colours, each of grüum’s new wash bags contains the equivalent of up to 12 plastic bottles.

The Manchester born brand, which was created by four friends back in 2016 has sustainability at its heart - with the new Loop bag joining a long line-up of zero-plastic beauty products, from toothpaste tablets, to bamboo toothbrushes and solid shampoo bars.

Commenting on the latest move grüum co-founder Andy Shaw said: “Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. From our ever expanding range of zero-plastic products to our packaging choices, it’s really important to us.”

Inspired by Scandinavian ideals, all grüum’s products – are cruelty free, and made without EDTA, parabens or artificial colours.

Key skincare product lines, such as its face washes, moisturisers, clay masks and dry oils are packed with natural ingredients.

Packaged products are contained within slimline tubes to take up less space and make transport more efficient, while all packaging is recyclable. The brand also offers a razor recycling scheme.

“We only want to create products that serve a real purpose, with no gimmicks or labels. Sustainability and inclusivity are core pillars of everything we do, so we don’t make things ‘for him’ or ‘for her’; we make them for everyone, with one fair price for all,” Shaw added.

The new loop Wash Bag is available to buy now at the limited launch price of £20.
