Commune builds beyond Seymour with second scent collection

British brand Commune has unveiled Montague, its second scent collection, following the launch of its debut Seymour fragrance in 2022.

Named after a village neighbouring the Somerset home of founders Kate Neal and Rémi Paringaux, Montague has been developed around the warmth of summer evenings.

The fragrance combines sun-ripened fruit with nocturnal flowers, taking a warmer and more sensual direction than the brand’s original scent.

The composition opens with notes of bergamot, grapefruit and green mandarin. At its heart, cardamom, night-blooming jasmine, rosemary and camphor combine, while Siberian fir and galbanum anchor the base.

The scent will feature across five products: hand wash, hand cream, body wash, body cream and bath salts.

Commune will package the washes and creams in aluminium bottles fitted with bespoke, reusable metal pumps. The bath salts will also be housed in an aluminium vessel, in line with the aluminium packaging used across the brand’s personal care and candle collections.

The collection will launch in October and will be available through Commune’s website and at Liberty, Harrods and Harvey Nichols.

The new scent follows the brand’s original fragrance, Seymour, which was launched by Commune in June 2022 and established the fragrance identity of its initial hand, body and hair care offering. Inspired by the Somerset countryside, it paired citrus notes with aromatic herbs and woods, including Egyptian geranium, Japanese hiba wood and cypress.

It also follows Commune’s move into home fragrance in 2024. That launch introduced six candles across the Vetiveria, Osmanthus and Nymphaea fragrance families, each presented in brighter Lux and woodier Nox interpretations.
