David Beckham’s wellness brand IM8 has secured $1 billion (£746 million) in growth financing from General Catalyst’s Customer Value Fund (CVF), as it looks to accelerate customer acquisition and global expansion.

The financing will support up to 70% of the brand’s marketing spend, allowing IM8 to scale without raising additional equity.

Under the agreement, General Catalyst will receive a capped share of revenue generated from customers acquired through the programme. Once the investment and agreed return have been repaid, IM8 will retain all future value from those customers.

Co-founded by David Beckham and health sciences company Prenetics, IM8 launched in December 2024 with its Daily Ultimate Essentials and Daily Ultimate Longevity supplements. The subscription-based brand now operates in 43 countries and has reached an annualised revenue run rate of more than $200 million, according to Prenetics.

Danny Yueng, CEO of Prenetics and co-founder of IM8, said: “Nineteen months ago, IM8 was an idea David Beckham and I were building around one belief: that people deserve premium science-backed products they can trust every day.”

“With this financing we can not accelerate brand and marketing across our 43 countries without issuing a single share to fund it. Our ambition is to build a multibillion-dollar global consumer health brand.”

The company said the funding will be used across digital performance marketing, connected TV advertising, ambassador and athlete partnerships, brand activations, sponsorships, content production and customer retention initiatives, as well as supporting expansion into new markets and product categories.

Adit Swarup, Partner at General Catalyst, said: "IM8 is a category-defining consumer health business, and the underlying cohort economics are among the strongest we have seen across the Customer Value Fund portfolio.”

"When you combine IM8's best-in-class unit economics, a repeatable customer acquisition engine across 43 countries and a founding team led by Danny Yeung with the cultural reach of a co-founder like David Beckham, you have exactly the kind of business the CVF was built to accelerate."

IM8 said it plans to launch additional products later this year, including IM8 Hydration, followed by a premium gummies range in early 2027, as it continues to expand its consumer health offering.
