Diptyque has launched a new corporate foundation, with a five-year mission focusing on the preservation of nature and artistic heritage.

The first part of its plan centres upon "protecting and preserving our botanical heritage" via three programmes.

First, the foundation will be come a benefactor and patron of the National Herbarium in Paris' Natural History Museum.

Next, it will partner with the École Nationale Supérieure de Paysage de Versailles (France's leading national school for training landscapers) to create a new sector dedicated to the art of gardens, aimed at restituting the excellence within the bygone profession of Master Gardener.

Finally, it is committed to supporting and protecting gardens and "remarkable botanical spaces", such as helping to restore the Jardin Serre de la Madone in Menton, a garden in the French Riviera known for its design and rare plants. It has also become a patron of the gardens of the French Academy in Rome, plus the Villa Medici and its heritage landscape. The foundation will also co-create a residency dedicated to the art of the garden.

The second main aim of the foundation's mission is to inaugurate artistic research closely linked to nature and the "evocative power of olefaction". The aim of the multidisciplinary approach is to involve experts across various fields, including  scientists, artists and botanists.

The final aim of the Diptyque Foundation is comitted to fighting what the brand calls "plant amnesia" by raising public awareness, particularly among younger generations, on botanical heritage and the importance of biodiversity. Launching this year, the foundation will collaborate with organisations and associations whose work focuses on raising such awareness and sustainable environmental preservation.

"Through the Diptyque Foundation, we intend to contribute to a more creative, more human and more sustainable future. A catalyst for emotion and reflection, the Foundation invites each and every person to rediscover the beauty of the natural world, where Art is in dialogue with Nature,” said Laurence Semichon, President of the Diptyque Foundation.
