Diversity champions star in Barbie X Josh Wood Colour campaign

Body positivity star and Alva Claire and trans model Charley Dean Sayers are fronting a campaign to showcase new limited edition hair glazes from Barbie X Josh Wood Colour.

The Pink Quartz, Blue Reef, and Peach Blush glazes have been released to celebrate 30 years of the best-selling Barbie Totally Hair doll, which have been reissued for a new generation with curvy, tall, petite and ethnically diverse dolls, each with 8.5in of extra-long playable hair.

Renowned hair colourist Josh Wood has created a number of exclusive hair colour techniques for the campaign:

• 'The Pom Pom’, seen on Alva Claire. Josh Wood says: "blending and melting colour allows each pom pom to have a unique and different colour".
• 'The Pigtail’, also seen on Alva Claire, is a triple dip techinique, using Alva's natural colour at the root, then layering in blues and purples, ensuring there are three bands of colour on this extreme length look.
• ’The Straight Strobes’ seen on Charley Dean Sayers, Wood says: "The Straight Strobes are strategically placed with contrasting colours give a feeling of 80s highlights."
• 'The Split Dye,’ also seen on Charley Dean Sayers, Wood says: "Work with the parting to ensure a dramatic split - although the peach and pink are not a dramatic contrast, the softer tones of this split are very Barbie."

Woods, whose clientele include  Gwendoline Christie, Saoirse Ronan, Florence Welch, Victoria Beckham, and Jerry Hall, said of the collaboration: "I am so proud to be working with Barbie on bringing contemporary hair colour into the realm of play.  Hair colour has always been creative and a way to express someone’s personality, so it's great to collaborate on these new colour techniques with Barbie."
