Dyson expands into oral care: Everything you need to know about the CameraJet Toothbrush

Dyson is expanding beyond home technology and haircare with CameraJet, its first toothbrush and a new connected system designed to combine brushing, flossing and mouth rinsing.

The company claims CameraJet is the only toothbrush to use camera-led gap detection to deliver precision flossing while users brush, based on its assessment of publicly available market data up to June 2026.

The new system uses a 100,000-pixel macro camera, alongside Dyson’s Gap Optical Targeting technology, to identify spaces between the teeth. When the system detects a gap, it triggers a targeted burst of mouthwash within 100 milliseconds.

The integrated camera captures 28 images per second, allowing the system to track and predict interdental gaps in real time. Its machine-learning system was trained using more than 470,000 dental images, while the toothbrush is powered by 16 million lines of code.

Elsewhere, a 12.5ml tank holds enough mouthrinse for one cleaning session. Its diaphragm pump and pressure chamber are designed to maintain consistent delivery whether the toothbrush is held upright, at an angle or horizontally, including when cleaning the backs of teeth.

The conical jet, which delivers the mouthrinse, also differs from the narrow stream used by many water flossers. Dyson says its broader spray was developed to help lift plaque at lower pressure, with the aim of being gentler on the gums and enamel.

The Wi-Fi- and Bluetooth-connected device also links to the MyDyson app, providing live camera viewing, coverage mapping and personalised guidance.

"Flossing is an awkward and time-consuming chore. Few of us do it even though we know we should. Our research has shown that people consistently miss the areas where plaque forms: the gaps between teeth," said Dyson founder and Chief Engineer, James Dyson.

"We wanted to solve three fundamental problems: how to see those gaps, remove plaque, how to improve cleaning performance while brushing. By combining a camera, machine learning, precision fluid dynamics, advanced brushing technologies, connectivity and WiFi, Dyson CameraJet introduces an entirely new way to keep your mouth healthy."

The new launch follows six years of product development involving 661 Dyson engineers, 30 dental professionals and 38 patent filings. It is available in Ceramic Ultra Blue and Ceramic Pink.

Dyson has also developed non-foaming toothpaste and low-foaming mouthrinse to help keep the camera’s view clear. Both contain sodium fluoride and will be available in Ginger Mint and Spearmint, alongside a Peppermint Sensitive toothpaste.

Priced at £419.99, the dental system will be sold through Dyson stores and selected retailers. The package includes the CameraJet toothbrush, charging dock, travel case, toothpaste and mouthrinse, positioning the product as a complete oral-care system rather than a standalone toothbrush.
