The heatwave has got me taking multiple (ice cold) showers a day and I can feel it taking a toll on my hair. It's feeling rather frizzy right now and more like straw everyday. What I need is some deeply hydrating product that will kick-start it back into shape.

So it was a lucky coincidence to see Maria Nila's new hydrating and shine-enhancing liquid hair treatment pop-up in my inbox. It's anti-frizz formula seals in cuticle to reduce porosity, enhance softness and create shine, according to the brand, and with the heatwave nowhere near abating I think that'll come as close as it can to being a saviour product. 

It promises to leave hair "silky soft and glossy as glass", and is beloved by none other than Alicia Silverstone – what else do I need?

21st Anniversary Crystal Nail File and Holo Gorgeous,

First of all, happy 21st Leighton Denny! The nail maestro has introduced two new limited edition products to mark the occasion and they are suitably fun and, as with everything Leighton launches, they do a great job and promote nail health.

First up, he has released a bedazzled holographic version of his Crystal Nail File. I already had a different bedazzled Crystal Nail File from Leighton Denny and I carry it everywhere. It annoys me when I change handbags and forget it, so it's great to have another one. If you know me, you know I'm a minimalist but I have a soft spot for these maximalist versions. They make me smile and make nail filing less of a chore.

This file effectively seals the end of the nail as you use it to help prevent further breakage or splitting. If I have gel nail polish on and get a small chip, I can use this to file away the damage and prolong my manicure. Apparently a Crystal Nail File is sold every 60 seconds; I'm not surprised. You'll need to move fast to get the holographic one as it's only available in limited numbers, but any of the range will serve you well and they come with a 25-year guarantee.

To complement the file, he has also launched the Holo Gorgeous nail polish, which is a multidimensional silver shade, delivering a somewhat holographic effect, as the name suggests. It makes me feel nostalgic as it reminds me of Chanel Flourine, which I first bought in the 90s. It's not available anymore and, while I kept mine for nostalgia's sake, it is not usable. This is a great alternative. I just use one coat for a more gentle sparkle but you can layer up for the full holographic force.

I am always interested in products that bring viral beauty trends down to a more accessible price point, so this Studio London setting spray caught my attention.
