Here are some of this week’s news and features highlights handpicked by TheIndustry.beauty team.

Sol De Janeiro

Jelly Perfume Balms, Sol de Janeiro

Sol de Janeiro continues to ride its seemingly unstoppable popularity wave, launching new formats to please its millions of existing fans and attract many new ones. It has just announced its move into solid fragrance (with lucky Boots having exclusivity on the launch in-store and online from 27 February) with these rather ingenious Jelly Perfume Balms.

The move is a response to the growing popularity of solid perfume among Gen Z consumers, with searches soaring on social media. This format works brilliantly for this wellness - and gym-obsessed demographic.

Each balm is infused with concentrated fragrance oils in a smooth, alcohol-free balm and delivers up to 1,000 swipes of the brand's signature scents: Cheirosa 62 (pistachio, salted caramel and vanilla); 68 (Brazilian jasmine, pink dragon fruit and ocean air); or 40 (black amber plum, jasmine blooms and vanilla woods).

"Jelly Perfume Balm is our first solid fragrance format. It gives people a simple, active way to have Cheirosa with them everywhere they go, so they can layer it with their favourite Cheirosa mists and extend the life of those scents throughout the day. It’s easy to use, perfect for on-the-go moments, and designed to be a collectible ritual that feels personal and real," explained Jordan Saxemard, Chief Marketing and Digital Officer of Sol de Janeiro.

I'm not Gen Z, nor am I gym-obsessed, but I'm taking these on my next holiday.

Available from Boots from 27 February, the Jelly Perfume Balms are priced at £25 each.

Byoma

Bio-Collagen Radiance Face Mask, Byoma

Like many, I think Byoma is fantastic. An affordable skincare brand with a barrier-loving approach (and fun packaging) - what’s not to love? Now, continuing its range expansion, the brand has introduced its first-ever facial mask.

The Bio-Collagen Radiance Face Mask is powered by biomimetic Bio-Collagen and Byoma’s Tri-Ceramide Complex, working to strengthen the skin barrier while boosting radiance, smoothness and elasticity. Unlike traditional sheet masks that simply sit on the skin, this formula starts as a cooling pink gel before transforming into a clear, breathable film.

Infused with Cica to calm and Astaxanthin to defend against oxidative stress, the mask supports the skin’s barrier for a complexion that looks plumper, stronger, and unmistakably glass-like.

Its liquid-to-film technology acts as both a delivery system and a performance signal. As the pink gel transforms into a flexible, transparent film, active ingredients are sealed in, maximising efficacy while eliminating the mess and slipping often associated with sheet masks (my ultimate bugbear). Once the film turns clear, the mask peels off, revealing skin that is brighter, smoother, deeply hydrated, and visibly more luminous.

Now available at Byoma, Boots, Space NK and more...

Matcha Milk and Berry Cream Hair & Body Mist Duo, Phlur

Just when you thought Phlur's fragrances couldn’t be more delicious, the brand expands its gourmand universe with two new Hair & Body Mists, perfectly timed for spring. Matcha Milk and Berry Cream take sweetness in a softer direction. Think less sugar rush and more creamy indulgence.

Matcha Milk features earthy matcha and black tea, brightened with bergamot, smoothed with macadamia milk and vanilla, and grounded in warm musk and amber. It’s cosy but clean - the kind of fragrance you mist generously after showering and pre-pilates.

Berry Cream is playful and almost nostalgic. Violet milk and sugared amber add softness, while ambrette and hibiscus keep it feeling modern. It’s airy, layerable, and made to be spritzed from head to toe.

Together, the duo (priced at £68) captures Phlur's talent for making gourmand fragrances feel elevated and wearable. Available exclusively at Space NK, they’re the easiest way to refresh your fragrance wardrobe for the season ahead.

HA Body Hydrator Hyaluronic Acid Body Serum, Saltair

With the non-stop rain the UK has been having, summer feels like it's a very long way away, but warmer weather will be with us before we know it - and that also means... skin on show. I'm going to start hydrating now so I'm summer-ready!

Saltair has launched the HA Body Hydrator, a lightweight, skin-quenching hyaluronic acid body serum designed to give you softer, smoother, plumper-looking skin. It also works wonders for the skin barrier thanks to sodium hyaluronate, red algae, magnesium chloride and a phyto-collagen complex that helps boost elasticity.

In a consumer study of 37 women over seven days:

  • 92% of participants said skin felt hydrated after one use.
  • 97% of participants noticed hydrated, softer skin after one week.
  • 95% of participants noticed smoother skin after one week.

Saltair HA Body Hydrator is available exclusively from Space NK, for £25.

Code 8

Brush set, Code8 Beauty

My brushes need an update, so this is a timely launch from minimalist make-up brand Code8. This is a great value, carefully considered brush set, complete with a foldable leather pouch, making it perfect for travel.

When I say it's perfect for travel, I don't mean the brushes are mini-size. Mini-size brushes have their place (in a small handbag, for example), but I am a bit ham-fisted with them. These are full-sized, but the case folds down into a neat, streamlined package that keeps your brushes organised and clean.

Each set contains all you need to create most looks - certainly all I need, anyway.

There is a foundation brush, designed to create the most natural application. Since I've decided to be obsessed with stick foundations, I've found myself in need of a good foundation brush these days. Meanwhile, the powder brush can be used for your setting powder, blush, bronzer or highlighter, making it the most versatile tool in the kit.

Of course, there is an eyeshadow brush for application and blending, as well as a dual-function lip/eyeliner brush for precision jobs.

The bristles are high-grade and synthetic, so they will last a long time if looked after. At £55, I think this is well worth the money and I particularly like the chic and simple black and gold design. Available now at www.codeeight.com.
