Dermalux

The Interview: Inside Dermalux’s consumer debut as it brings professional LED expertise into the home

The at-home beauty technology market has expanded rapidly in recent years, with consumers increasingly turning to devices such as LED masks to bring professional-inspired treatments into their daily routines.

While professional LED treatments remain a popular choice in clinics, demand for at-home devices continues to rise, both as standalone skincare solutions and as a way to maintain results between appointments.

Tapping into this growing market, Dermalux LED is making its consumer debut, bringing 14 years of clinical expertise to an increasingly competitive category with the launch of its new Dermalux LED Face Mask.

I caught up with co-founders Louise Taylor and Huw Anthony, alongside Managing Director Niall Young, to discuss the product launch and the brand’s entry into the consumer market. It’s an exciting one!

Jo Malone London

Jo Malone London arrives at Boots as demand fuels major retail expansion

Boots has launched a new partnership with Jo Malone London, with the British fragrance brand becoming available in more Boots locations than through any other UK retailer. Jo Malone London products are now available in 39 Boots stores across the UK and online at Boots.com. They are also available at the Boots fragrance-only concept store in London.

I find this intriguing, as it says much about how Boots has enhanced its reputation as a retailer of niche and luxe brands, as well as mass-market essentials. It wasn't so long ago that it seemed inconceivable that we would see Jo Malone London outside of its own stores or upmarket department stores.

It also speaks to how far the average consumer is prepared to stretch the budget when it comes to fragrance these days. A 100ml bottle of Jo Malone cologne retails for £125 and there are plenty more in the line-up that cost a fair bit more than that. Fragrance is the new power category for beauty with consumers prepared to pay more and to venture outside of the mainstream brands to find their personal favourite. Now they can find non-mainstream brands in a mainstream retailer, will consumers consider them to be as desirable? I hope so, but this is a move that is not without some risk.

I'm sure rivals, such as Diptyque, are watching with interest, but I can't see them rushing to follow just yet.

Covent Garden Beyond Beauty

Covent Garden's annual beauty festival to return with more than 80 brands involved

Covent Garden has become something of a beauty hub in recent years - from pop-up activations to its ties with British Beauty Week - and now it’s strengthening this position with the return of its annual beauty festival for the second year.

Taking place from 4 to 13 September 2026, the event will introduce a new Beyond Beauty identity alongside a neighbourhood-wide programme spanning retail, services and live experiences.

The 10-day festival will feature more than 80 beauty and wellness brands across the Piazza, Seven Dials and Covent Garden’s surrounding streets, with participation from global flagships and independent boutiques alike.

Chanel, Charlotte Tilbury, Dolce&Gabbana, Elemis, Glossier, Guerlain, Jo Malone London, Miller Harris, NARS, Penhaligon’s, Space NK and Tom Ford are among the brands already confirmed to take part.

With our offices practically on the square, this is great news - my lunch breaks will be filled with beauty bliss!
