Pai Skincare

1 in 4 UK tweens are using strong actives in skincare, new data finds

New research has revealed that more than 1 in 4 (25.7%) of UK children aged 9-12 are using skincare containing strong active ingredients like retinol and AHAs. It's a concerning statistic, though I can't say I'm entirely surprised.

While these ingredients typically promise clearer, 'glowing' complexions, experts are warning that they could be doing more harm than good if used on underdeveloped skin.

A recent study, commissioned by British brand Pai Skincare, highlights just how serious this issue is...

Alongside the data, Pai Skincare has launched a new #StaySkinSharp Skincare Guide in collaboration with Consultant Dermatologist Dr Zainab Laftah and the British Skin Foundation (BSF). It follows research showing that 96% of parents would find specific skincare guidance for tweens helpful. The guide aims to empower parents to navigate skincare conversations with their children, balancing trend-driven curiosity with safe, responsible skincare habits - an invaluable tool for addressing this ever-evolving concern.

Daise continues rapid expansion with launch at Boots

I'm not surprised to see Daise land this great deal with Boots. This Gen Alpha/Gen Z bodycare brand is brilliant and a huge hit in my house.

Founded by Monday Haircare's (also a huge hit in my house) Jaimee Lupton, this clever brand taps into the rising demand for beauty and skincare from the power consumers of the future. It's affordable, it's fun, it looks great, it smells great and it's mood enhancing. NGL, I've been known to use my teenage daughter's Vanilla Whip body wash (she steals enough products from me, so it's only fair).

It's a great success story already and I'm sure it's only just getting going.

L’Oréal ushered in new era appointing Harold James as Global Makeup Artist

Earlier this week, L’Oréal Paris named Harold James as its new Global Makeup Artist, ushering in a fresh chapter for the storied and globally influential Parisian beauty house. Known for his refined, elegant aesthetic - he is French, after all - James brings a modern edge to timeless beauty.

Born in French Guiana and raised in Paris, James has spent over a decade crafting looks for fashion weeks and red carpets around the world. From haute couture runways to A-list clientele, his artistry is praised for enhancing individuality while honouring the face in front of him. His approach to beauty is shaped by a global perspective: minimalist influences from Japan, New York’s raw urban energy, and, of course, the enduring appeal of Parisian chic. A match made in heaven if you ask me.

He now steps into the spotlight at L’Oréal Paris, aligning his artistry with the beauty brand’s mission to champion self-worth and celebrate empowered beauty in all its forms.

Naked Sundays

The Interview: Naked Sundays founder Samantha Brett on making suncare sexy and driving global growth

Founded by former news anchor Samantha Brett in 2021, Naked Sundays was born out of a personal mission...

Having covered stories for hours under the harsh Australian sun, Brett witnessed firsthand the long-term effects of UV exposure. Members of her news crew, constantly outdoors, began to suffer from serious sun damage - some even developing melanoma. Realising the urgent need for effortless, effective sun protection, she set out to create Naked Sundays, infusing trending skincare and makeup products with SPF50.

Since its launch, the business has experienced growth of more than 1113%, establishing itself as a trusted source of SPF.

Brett tells TheIndustry.beauty about the rise of Naked Sundays, how the brand builds and nurtures connections with customers, how it targets UK consumers, her ambitions, and more.
