The Interview: CeraVe’s UK boss on scaling dermatologist-led skincare through education, accessibility and SPF growth

Since launching in the UK in 2018, L’Oréal-owned CeraVe has grown into one of the market’s most recognisable brands. As consumer interest in skincare education continues to rise, the brand is well positioned to build on its momentum and further strengthen its presence.

Driving this next phase of growth is Sarah Atkins, who took on the role of General Manager for CeraVe UK & Ireland earlier this year. With a focus on clarity, credibility and consumer education, Atkins and the wider team are working to reinforce trust and deepen the brand’s relationship with its audience.

She speaks to us about CeraVe’s strategy, the evolving skincare landscape and how the brand plans to support its continued growth.

Most women struggle to understand skincare ingredients, Skin Rocks survey finds

We're very lucky working in our industry for many reasons. One of the main ones is we are well educated on beauty products and ingredients and how best to use them. That being said, barely a week goes by when I don't learn something new. So I can only imagine how hard it is for those outside of our market to understand sometimes. Skincare has become far more effective and, with it, far more complex to understand. I've gifted skincare to friends and family who look equal parts grateful and baffled. Some of them wouldn't know an exosome from their elbow.

This issue has been highlight by a new Skin Rocks-commissioned survey of 2,000 women. This has shown a clear gap between how confident consumers feel about skincare and how much they actually understand, with 85% saying the category is packed with jargon that the average person struggles to follow. Some consumers haven't a clue which ingredients are meant to be used and night and which are meant to be used during the day, which in a world where Retinol and heatwaves exist, is somewhat alarming, though perhaps not surprising.

That being said, this news does open up a new opportunity for brands to introduce clear messaging and packaging and ensure consumers are using the right products, getting the right results and coming back for more.

Galderma survey highlights growing focus on skin quality

I found this survey particularly interesting because skin concerns are something that I have always seen affect the people around me, from feeling self-conscious about breakouts to becoming increasingly concerned about signs of ageing or changes in their skin. It is a reminder that skincare is not just about appearance, but can also have a real impact on confidence and wellbeing.

Galderma’s new global survey found that nine in 10 people experience skin quality concerns, with 85% saying these issues affect their quality of life. More than one-third of respondents said their concerns had made them feel self-conscious, insecure or anxious.

The scale of those concerned with skin quality saddened me. The findings highlight that many consumers are simply looking for products and treatments that help them feel more comfortable and confident in their own skin.

As the beauty industry continues to move towards more personalised approaches, it will be interesting to see how brands balance innovation and treatment with a greater understanding of the emotional side of skincare.

Beauty Tech Group raises outlook after 'strong' first half across all markets

I've been really intrigued by the rise in beauty tech over the last couple of years. Seemingly everyone I know has a red-light mask at home and it's become a major part of many consumers' skincare routines.

That growing appetite is reflected in the latest results from The Beauty Tech Group, published earlier this week, which has upgraded its full-year FY26 expectations, with growth delivered across its core business, all key markets and channels.

The London Stock Exchange listed owner of CurrentBody Skin (of the red light masks), ZIIP Beauty and Tria Laser said its board now forecasts at least £170 million in revenue and £45 million in adjusted EBITDA for the year to 31 December 2026.

This is the second year of growth for the company, which saw FY25 results rise 39.4% year-on-yearith own-brand revenue rising 60% to £140.9 million.

The business now operates in more than 90 countries, with international expansion helping to drive growth since its London Stock Exchange listing in October 2025 at a valuation of around £300 million.

Our exclusive 26-page report from TheIndustry.beauty, produced in partnership with BigCommerce, found that consumers across all age groups are increasingly willing to invest in beauty devices, suggesting there is still significant headroom for growth.

Consumer interest shows little sign of slowing down, and I for one am very interested to see how innovation and new product categories will continue to drive this market.
