Eris Parfums expands in UK as niche fragrance demand intensifies

Independent New York perfume house Eris Parfums is deepening its footprint in the UK, leaning into a boutique-first retail strategy that reflects where the momentum in fragrance is building: the niche and narrative-driven.

Founded by writer and vintage-perfume obsessive Barbara Herman, Eris has grown from an online underground favourite into a brand steadily shaping modern olfactory culture. After entering the UK via e-commerce perfumery Sainte Cellier in 2022, the house is now adding three specialist stockists to its roster: Boots Fragrance’s new concept store at Broadgate Central, Wild Iris in Brighton and Scent-ed in Glasgow (which launches later this month).

For Herman, whose book Scent & Subversion remains a cult text among perfume aficionados, these locations were chosen with precision. Eris is built on subversive glamour and vintage-inspired irreverence - best expressed through its eight fragrances created with master perfumer Antoine Lie - and that language resonates most powerfully in places where storytelling is central to the retail experience. From Wild Iris’s "rare, extraordinary" edit to Sainte Cellier’s founder-led curation rooted in perfume history, these partners understand the intellectual pull of niche perfumery. Alongside these indie hotspots sits Boots, which has positioned its new Broadgate concept around the rising appetite for niche scent.

The niche category has grown into the beauty industry’s most dynamic segment, propelled by customers who view perfume as self-expression rather than a luxury accessory. It’s a space dominated by storytelling and small houses with sharply defined aesthetics. Eris firmly sits within that category.

"I am thrilled to be partnering with UK retailers who understand that ERIS fragrances offer something unique in niche perfumery," Herman said. "Subversive storytelling and luxury ingredients combined with a Master Perfumer whose avant-garde signature unifies the collection and excites fans for every new release."

With stockists now in twelve countries and a new fragrance scheduled for 2026, Eris is ready to capture the UK consumer’s expanding appetite for niche perfumery.
