Estée Lauder Companies names new UK&I General Manager
The Estée Lauder Companies has named Pernilla Nyberg as Senior Vice President and General Manager in the UK and Ireland, replacing Sue Fox, who will retire next year.
With a background in finance, strategy, marketing, and enterprise-wide transformation, Nyberg previously held a leadership role in the UK and Ireland from 2012 to 2016, as Vice President, Regional CFO and Strategy Leader.
"Her leadership in this role established her strong credentials in the region and makes her particularly well-qualified to assume this important new role, effective 1 January 2025," reads a statement from Estée Lauder.
Nyberg later relocated to New York from 2016 to 2020, and was promoted to SVP where she led Global Finance & Strategy for a portfolio of brands within the company.
In November 2020, she returned to the UK in a dual global role as Senior Vice President Global Marketing Planning & Transformation Lead for integrated business planning, working across brands, regions, and functions.
Prior to joining Estée Lauder, she worked for 15 years at sportswear brand Nike across several European markets (including Germany, the Netherlands and the UK), in various senior finance and strategy leadership roles.
She replaces Fox, who has spent 30 years at The Estée Lauder Companies in various roles and will exit on 30 June 2025.
Fox has led the company’s second most established market since January 2020, initially joining the region as Senior Vice President/General Manager for the UK and Ireland before taking on her current role as President in 2021.
The news comes after The Estée Lauder Companies shared a message from the Lauder family, addressing its declining sales as it looks to bring the firm back to profitable growth.
It followed 4% decrease in net sales for the first quarter, revealing single-digit declines across all beauty categories.
The company's performance primarily reflected further softness in overall prestige beauty in mainland China.
