Dreamt of the day that bacteria-killing makeup brushes became a thing? Well, thanks to Morphe and its new silver ion-infused makeup brushes, the wait is over.

Morphe, the makeup brush-turned-cosmetics creator, has sold an impressive 50 million brushes. Established in 2008 by siblings Chris and Linda Tawil, it quickly gained popularity among makeup enthusiasts and professional artists thanks to its collaborations with renowned beauty influencers. After 16 years of creating affordable, professional-quality brushes, Morphe has now launched ‘Morphe Brushes Reimagined’.

Over 600 designs were trialled to create the collection, which was finalised with 34 pieces. Each brush sets out to represent "the pinnacle of innovation and expertise in makeup application". In other words, the capsule brush wardrobe contains everything you need and nothing you don't.

Not only are the brushes reengineered and pull-tested to ensure less fraying, shedding and streaking, but they are crafted with  silver ion-infused vegan bristles, known to have antibacterial properties.

So what exactly are silver ions? They are a naturally derived antimicrobial technology used in many industries. These tiny particles are known to break through bacterial cell walls, inhibiting bacteria’s ability to survive and thrive. So long are the days of makeup dirty brushes causing acne.

Morphe’s silver ion-infused bristles can reduce harmful bacteria by 99.9%. Rest assured, the antibacterial properties have been rigorously tested and validated by an independent, globally accredited clinical laboratory.

The longevity of the brush’s silver ion benefits can vary, depending on brush use. According to Morphe's manufacturer, silver ions typically remain effective for up to a year under normal use.

If you’re using your brushes often, Morphe recommends cleaning them routinely and replacing them every 12-18 months. Cleaning each brush removes the buildup of makeup and dirt, helping to extend its overall performance while supporting healthy skin.

Since the US-based beauty brand closed all its standalone stores in the UK to focus on wholesale and e-commerce last summer, Morphe Brushes Reimagined is now available online at Morphe and Selfridges. Prices start at £8.
