Fan power or market potential? Pleasing’s sexual wellness launch sells out 'in minutes'
With a name like Pleasing, a move into sexual wellness was almost inevitable. Last week, the Harry Styles-founded beauty brand made its debut in the category with Pleasing Yourself, launching with a Double-Sided Vibrator and The PleasingLube.
You could say the release created quite a buzz among consumers, with the two new products having sold out "within minutes" both in the US and UK.
So, it’s clear that Pleasing’s entry into sexual wellness has been a sell-out success - but does this impact signal a real opportunity in the sexual wellness market, or simply the purchasing power of Styles’ fanbase? TheIndustry.beauty takes a closer look…
Pleasing launched in 2021 with a collection of nail polishes and skincare, and has since expanded its offerings through various new product launches, collaborations, and merchandise. From fragrances to suncare, and collections with Disney’s Fantasia and fashion designer JW Anderson, fans of Styles and the brand have eagerly embraced each release, driving sales and growing the brand’s loyal following.
Its launch into sexual wellness now marks a bold new chapter for the brand, but Pleasing says this move isn’t about provocation, chasing trends, or offering prescriptions - "it’s an invitation to a broader, more open conversation around sex as a space for connection, expression, and self-awareness for everyone".
The expansion reflects a clear intention: to explore sexual wellness through a lens of emotional depth, cultural fluency, joy and pleasure, and genuine care.
Both the Double-Sided Vibrator, developed with sex educator, author and industry advocate Zoe Ligon, and The PleasingLube launch are part of this mission.
"I’ve spent over a decade helping people explore their sexuality with curiosity, compassion, and zero shame, because for me, sex toys were the key to discovering my own pleasure. I’ll truly never tire of explaining how powerful and life-changing they can be," says Ligon.
"That’s why partnering with Pleasing felt like such a natural fit. The brand's commitment to inclusivity, thoughtful design, and sharing joy aligns so deeply with everything I believe in.
"I love that it already understands that things don’t exist in binaries, especially when it comes to sexuality. What it creates is just as visually appealing as it is practical and high quality, and it’s an honour to help shape Pleasing's entry into sexual wellness."

But what's driving the demand?
It’s no secret that Styles has a loyal fanbase, who likely make up the core customers of Pleasing. With no new album released since 2022, fans are eager to support the singer-songwriter in any way possible - whether through beauty products or, now, sexual wellness offerings.
However, with the sexual wellness market forecast to reach $62.74 billion by 2030, according to Research and Markets, it seems that Pleasing’s success isn’t driven by fans alone.
In fact, in recent years, the sexual wellness landscape has undergone transformative shifts, strengthened by innovation, societal change, and scientific advancement.
Katie May Medley, Trend Forecasting Director at Future Snoops, tells TheIndustry.beauty: "As a trend forecaster with a background in the intimates and wellness industries, I’ve watched the sexual wellness category grow rapidly over recent years. At trade shows especially, and in consumer behaviour, we’re seeing a real expansion in design-led pleasure products and brands reframing intimacy as part of holistic wellbeing.
"Pleasing’s move into the space isn’t surprising. Harry Styles has long embodied a softer, more fluid approach to self-expression, and this feels like a natural brand extension. I think his entry into this market signals that sexual wellness is shifting from niche to mainstream."
That said, Atkinson also believes the move raises some bigger, slightly more cynical questions. "But is this truly progress, or is it just smart marketing?" she adds.
"Many women- and queer-led startups have struggled for funding or visibility in this space. This is due to lots of blockers - things like, until recently, many sexual wellness brands (especially those not male-led or heteronormative) faced barriers to shelf space, advertising, and press coverage, further limiting visibility and scale. Add to that the fact that sexual wellness is still considered a "taboo" category by many traditional investors.
"It’s interesting to see how quickly a celebrity-led brand can command attention in this space. It’s a reminder that while visibility is growing, the deeper, more personal layers of sexual wellness can still get overshadowed by the aesthetics of the moment."
However, this visibility also opens the door to positive change. With significant room for growth, the sexual wellness market offers a compelling opportunity for innovation-focused companies and investors. As the data indicates, there's ample space for brands to not only coexist but to thrive in this dynamic and rapidly evolving landscape.
And for Pleasing, this is just the beginning of a deeper commitment to creating products and experiences that honour pleasure and intimacy as essential, enriching parts of life.
Staying true to the brand’s ethos, its approach will continue to be rooted in emotional relevance, thoughtful design, and a deep belief in the power of cultural storytelling.
"Pleasing Yourself is something we want our community to do - we want them to love themselves, look after themselves, treat themselves, and please themselves. Sexual wellness is such an important part of a person’s mental health and overall wellbeing, and is something we’re proud to embrace and speak about openly," concludes Pleasing's Creative Director Harry Lambert.
"This new category marks the beginning of a broader focus on wellness, pleasure, joy, and care - all things that play a big role in our founder’s life, and we’re really excited to share this next chapter of Pleasing with the world."
