Farfetch explores exit from beauty category

Farfetch is reportedly exploring the closure of its beauty division, following its entry into the category last year.

The online retailer entered the beauty category in April 2022, welcoming over 100 brands across makeup, skincare, haircare, fragrance and grooming.

The launch followed its acquisition of beauty retailer Violet Grey in January 2022, resulting in the introduction of Farfetch Beauty.

Today, the retailer stocks various beauty brands including Charlotte Tilbury, REN Clean Skincare, Sunday Riley, 111SKIN, Aesop and Gucci.

However, recent developments suggest that the category has encountered challenges, leading to reports that Farfetch may close down the division.

Whilst Farfetch is yet to confirm the decision, the news has been supported by posts on LinkedIn suggesting various staff redundancies across its beauty department, highlighting the retailer's decision to "shutter the beauty category".
