Frasers Group has expanded its rapidly growing property portfolio with the acquisition of the 1.1 million sq ft Braehead Shopping Centre.

The transaction represents a step forward in Frasers Group’s property ambitions and forms a key part of its Elevation Strategy, which focuses on enhancing the quality, experience and performance of its retail environments.

With more than 15 million annual visitors, Braehead is among Scotland’s highest-performing retail locations - making it a strategic and high-value addition for the group.

Established in 1999 and located between Glasgow City Centre and Glasgow Airport, the destination is home to over 100 "leading" names such as Sports Direct, Flannels, NEXT and Marks & Spencer.

Michael Murray, CEO of Frasers Group, highlighted the significance of the acquisition: "This acquisition is an important step in delivering our property ambitions and accelerating the Elevation Strategy.

"It cements the group’s position as a leading operator and champion of physical retail destinations while unlocking greater opportunities to serve communities with the best brands, environments and experiences possible."

Over the past year, Braehead has consistently outperformed the wider Scottish retail market, with footfall rising 3% and consumer spend up 4% year-on-year to June - ahead of the 0.1% Scottish average.

Leasing activity has also remained robust, with 16 brands renewing or extending their leases in 2025.

Claire Barber, CEO of SGS UK Retail, noted that while the sale aligned with SGS’s long-term strategy, Braehead is now well positioned for its next phase under Frasers Group.

She said: "We have delivered substantial value enhancement and successfully stabilised the asset, attracting new brands and increasing its relevance and appeal to customers.

"We have created a strong platform from which Frasers Group can continue to drive growth, leveraging its retail expertise to further unlock Braehead’s potential as one of the leading retail destinations in Scotland."

The acquisition reinforces Frasers Group’s commitment to investing in high-potential, experience-driven destinations across the UK.

Braehead joins a growing portfolio of quality retail assets designed to support the group’s multi-brand offering, including Sports Direct, Flannels and USC, as well as other brands and retail destinations.

Advising on the deal were James Keany of CBRE for Frasers Group and Nick Hart of JLL for SGS UK Retail.
