From milky minimalism to luxe velvet: Top nail trends revealed for winter 2025
After a summer awash in buttery yellows and soft ballet pinks, followed by an autumn embracing richer hues, high-shine finishes, and bold textures, winter is ushering in a season of contrasts - where minimalist elegance meets festive glamour.
Beauty platform Fresha has unveiled the top nail trends set to define this season - and in some cases, continue to dominate in the months ahead, with styles like glass nails still leading the way.
1. Milky nails - 444,900 searches
Topping the list this season are milky nails, a softer, more understated take on the classic white manicure. Using semi-sheer or pale nude polishes, this trend creates a creamy, almost ethereal finish - perfect for fans of the ongoing ‘clean girl’ aesthetic.
2. Glass nails - 403,900 searches
Next up are glass nails, a trend that has been embraced in Korean beauty circles and recently went viral thanks to Hailey Bieber. These glossy, reflective nails mirror the ‘glass skin’ trend in skincare, emphasising clarity, simplicity, and sophistication.
3. Velvet nails - 222,000 searches
Coming in third, velvet nails deliver a soft, light-catching texture reminiscent of luxurious velvet fabric. This trend adds a subtle three-dimensional effect to your manicure, making it a festive favourite around Christmas for consumers.

Annabelle Taurua, Content Marketing Executive at Fresha, said: "We are seeing a mix of styles from old favourites making a comeback to exciting new trends, both of which are evolving as people put their own personal touches on them.
"From the minimalism of Hailey Bieber’s glass nails, clear nails and milky nails, to the extravagance of fuzzy textured velvet nails and deep navy colour tones, the beauty space will see it all this season."
As we head into 2026, minimalist trends that highlight natural nails are expected to continue, reflecting ongoing interest in natural beauty among millennials and Gen Z.
