Glossier listens to customer demands, bringing back original Balm Dotcom

Glossier's customers asked and the beauty brand answered. Today, Glossier is relaunching all nine of their cult-favourite Balm Dotcoms lip balms in their original formula.

The do-it-all balm has been a staple of the Glossier community’s routine since day one, quickly becoming a collectable cornerstone of the brand. Its loyal customer base couldn't get enough, leading it to later introduce new tints and flavours.

In 2023, Balm Dotcom was updated with a mess-free angled tip and a new vegan formula. While this formulation was both thoughtful and efficacious, the brand has since received an overwhelming outpouring of love and longing from its community to bring back the original formula.

Last week, the company first teased the lunch by posting a hazy image to Instagram that read "You asked for it". The comments were flooded with fans begging for the relaunch of the Balm Dotcoms... and they were right on the money.

Answering the community’s call, Glossier has decided to return to the original formulation. This includes a conditioning blend of Castor Oil, Beeswax and Lanolin, while maintaining the newer user-friendly packaging for easy mess-free application– the best of both worlds.

The nine shades, including the newest launch, are as follows:

  • Birthday: Sugary-sweet with a subtle holographic tint
  • Rose: Floral with a barely-there pink tint
  • Wild Fig: Jammy and fresh with a slight coral tint
  • Coconut: Beachy and un-tinted
  • Mint: Un-tinted with a cooling feel
  • Lavender: Floral and herbaceous with a sheer purple tint
  • Mango: Fresh and juicy with a peachy-rose tint
  • Original: Versatile, un-tinted, and fragrance-free
  • Strawberry: Sweet and juicy with a jammy red tint - its latest permanent addition

This follows the news that Glossier is branching outside of London with the help of Space NK, where the new-yet-old Balm Dotcoms will be available to purchase. The brand, which has a flagship store in the heart of London's Covent Garden and is sold by third-party retailer Sephora in London, will be joining 48 Space NK stores across the country from 8 June.
