Harrods launches new H beauty recycling scheme
Harrods is piloting a scheme to recycle beauty cosmetics products, incentivising customers to return used beauty products in order to access a range of experiences and benefits.
MyBeauty Recycle & Reward will be trialled from 14th January 2023 for three months in H Beauty Milton Keynes. Customers will be required to return a minimum of five used beauty products in order to access the programme.
The programme includes access to a host of member-only benefits including earning rewards points on all beauty purchases, and exclusive offers and services, including discounts on beauty treatments at Drybar and Townhouse.
Harrods is working with recycling partner MYGroup on the pilot which will see nail polish and fragrance bottles accepted in a first for a beauty recycling scheme. As these are classified as hazardous products they have previously been very difficult to recycle but My Beauty Recycle & Reward will be the first scheme in the UK to encourage the recycling of these items.
H Beauty customers in Milton Keynes will also be able to recycle a huge range of other products – from make-up items, such as compacts, mascara and eye shadow containers, to shampoo and skincare bottles, lotion pumps and vitamin bottles.
Mia Collins, Head of Beauty at Harrods, commented: “The launch of MyBeauty Recycle & Reward marks another incredible milestone for Harrods and H beauty. The launch of the scheme showcases our commitment to bringing a more circular and sustainable shopping experience to our H beauty customers, encouraging the H beauty community to recycle beauty packaging and products that are not able to be recycled by traditional kerbside collections.”
Steve Carrie, Director at MYGroup, commented:“We’re proud to be working alongside one of the iconic brands of luxury British retail to reach new customers with our ground-breaking cosmetics and plastic recycling offering. MYGroup is trusted by a growing number of high-profile, forward-thinking partners in the retail space, who see the tangible, visible difference our in-store takeback schemes can make to meeting their sustainability goals.”
