Harrods promotes Retail Director to Chief Retail Officer
Harrods has today announced the promotion of Mark Blundell to Chief Retail Officer in this his eighth year at the luxury Knightsbridge retailer.
Blundell joined Harrods in 2018 as Head of Retail Projects & Retail Services. In 2022 he was promoted to Retail Director. Prior to Harrods, Blundell held leadership roles in John Lewis Partnership and Waitrose. He began his career as a graduate with Barclays.
In his new role, he will be “responsible for the service and standards that create an exceptional customer experience” across all Harrods physical retail channels.
Michael Ward, Managing Director of Harrods, said: “I am pleased to promote Mark to join the Harrods management executive committee. Mark is a dynamic leader with a proven track record in managing teams to deliver outstanding customer experiences and strong commercial results.
“His strategic leadership will support the ongoing development of our high performance culture and continuing evolution of Harrods as the leading luxury authority.”
Blundell’s appointment follows the promotion of Sarah Myler to the management executive committee as Chief Brand & Reputation Officer in August 2025. She joined Harrods as a director in 2018 and had most recently been leading Harrods’ international marketing strategy, international business development, communications and events.
In her role as Chief Brand & Reputation Officer, Myler now leads Harrods’ marketing and communications strategy, overseeing all marketing channels and “acting as guardian of the Harrods brand”.
Last month saw Harrods reported a decline in profits for the year ending 1 February 2025, as it continues to be affected by the broader slowdown in the luxury market and the allocation of over £60 million for compensation linked to historic abuse by former chairman and owner, Mohamed Al Fayed.
