Harvey Nichols has confirmed the closure of its standalone Beauty Bazaar store in Liverpool as part of its strategy to reposition the department store for growth.

Having first opened in 2012, the concept store offers brands such as Estée Lauder, MAC Cosmetics and Jo Malone London, amongst others. It is expected to close by mid-April.

A spokesperson for Harvey Nichols told TheIndusty.beauty: "As we implement our strategy to reposition Harvey Nichols for growth, our emphasis is on full category stores within our estate.

"We have reviewed our store portfolio and mutually agreed with the Landlord of our Beauty Bazaar location in Liverpool to surrender the lease as we focus on investment into full-category stores.

"Unfortunately, this means that our employees in the Liverpool store may be at risk of redundancy. We have entered into a consultation process and are doing everything we can to support those affected by the surrender."

It comes as other beauty retailers such as Space NK, Boots and Sephora have invested millions into their store estates.

Last week, Space NK announced a new flagship at London's Oxford Circus, which will introduce a purpose-built beauty experience concept to meet the wants and needs of its customers.

Taking the unit currently housed by Ikea's Hus of FRAKTA, the new store will feature a selection of new brands, exclusive product launches and familiar favourites, allowing customers to explore the "very best of beauty".
