Hourglass is tapping into this charming trend with its most exclusive launch yet

Hourglass is bringing a new level of customisation to its cult Ambient Lighting Edit palette with the launch of the Charms edition, exclusive to Selfridges London. Running from 14-28 August, the brand will host a Charms Bar pop-up in the main beauty hall where shoppers can design their very own compacts.

Inspired by the craftsmanship of fine jewellery, Hourglass has reimagined its bestselling Ambient Lighting Edit palette as a customisable gold compact (£92). Each lid can be personalised with two charms from a curated collection of 48 golden symbols, crafted from premium metals and gemstones.

The line-up includes gemstone-encrusted initials (A-Z), celestial zodiac signs, good fortune talismans such as a horseshoe, heart, dove, clover and evil eye, plus nature-inspired designs like a moon, starfish and lightning bolt. Charms are sold separately for £18 and are available permanently at the Hourglass counter, encouraging beauty lovers to collect and swap for endless mix-and-match combinations

Inside, the two palette options each feature six bestselling Ambient Lighting powders, bronzers, blushers and highlighters, powered by Hourglass’ signature Photoluminescent Technology to capture, diffuse and soften light while blurring imperfections.

The launch taps into the growing luxury customisation trend, where packaging is as much of a keepsake as the product itself. It follows Hourglass’ recent complexion-led activation in Soho, The Vinyl Lounge - a one-day immersive pop-up celebrating its complexion portfolio and the appointment of singer-songwriter Gracie Abrams as Global Brand Partner. Part of the brand’s global "Complexion Destination" strategy, it reflects Hourglass’s ongoing push to merge high-end beauty with experiential retail. With The Charms Bar now in London, the brand is giving customers a new way to make its cult palettes truly their own.
