How The Perfume Shop encouraged record sales in 2023

Following a record year of sales, The Perfume Shop has highlighted the key drivers behind its success in 2023.

Among the retailer's achievements was its biggest-ever price freeze, which saw over 138 bestselling fragrances on offer.

The activation encouraged a 48% increase in customers shopping directly from the price freeze section on its website, against 2022.

The Perfume Shop further supported customers during the cost-of-living crisis through its VIP Rewards Club, which increased its members by 21% to over five million members in 2023.

The retailer introduced an extensive perfume bottle recycling service during the year, strengthening its focus on sustainability and commitment to tackling unnecessary perfume bottle wastage.

Over 8,611 bottles were recycled in 2023, compared to 5,152 the previous year, up 67% year-to-date within its 209 nationwide stores.

It also partnered with L’Oréal to introduce the UK's first multi-brand fragrance refill station, helping to meet customer demand for more environmentally friendly options.

The refill station marked an exclusive project between The Perfume Shop and L’Oréal, which saw the service first launch at the retailer's store at The Victoria Centre in Nottingham.

In addition to the recycling and refill schemes, The Perfume Shop continued to elevate its overall store estate with the opening of over 27 new, modernised, experiential stores across the UK and Ireland. This included new open layouts, upgraded services and digital screens.

It said the expansion of these new refitted stores will continue into 2024 with around 35 additional refits planned.
