In Pictures: A look inside Chanel’s fragrance-themed Shoreditch pop-up
Chanel Beauty is calling for Londoners to ‘Take a Chance’ and head to Shoreditch to experience its purple pop-up in celebration of the launch of Chance Eau Splendide, the first addition to its Chance fragrance family in eight years. The immersive experience runs from 25 April to 5 May at The Dream Factory on, fittingly, Chance Street.
The storied Parisian house invites guests to its pop-up designed as a dreamlike fairground, complete with interactive games, scent discovery zones and playful touches throughout. From the fragrance bar to the colourful installations, every corner offers a new way to immerse oneself in the world of Chanel Beauty.
Here’s a first look at the playful, multi-sensory world of Chanel’s newest scent.
The pop-up is hard to miss. Just look out for the lilac mural created in honour of the new fragrance that is splashed across the sides of its typically East London brick walls. Inspired by both the bottle’s design and the film’s kaleidoscopic visuals, it’s a must-snap photo op for beauty lovers and social media mavens.
On entry, visitors are greeted with the signature lilac hue of Chance Eau Splendide, a fresh yet deep scent crafted by Olivier Polge. Here, they're invited to get the first whiff of the fragrance. It opens with sparkling raspberry and delicate floral notes, settling into a powdery, woody base of cedar and iris. Think elegance with an unexpected twist.
As pop-up goers make their way through the mirrored hallways, they'll find a fortune-telling trumph where they'll find out which of the Chance fragrances best describes them.
The next stop: a dedicated screening room that showcases Chanel’s latest fragrance film, directed by Amélie’s Jean-Pierre Jeunet. The short stars Belgian artist Angèle (who famously closed the Paris Olympics in 2024) navigating a whimsical hall of mirrors, mirroring the dreamlike nature of the new scent.
Visitors are then invited to the games room, where prizes are waiting to be won - from fragrance samples to handbag accessories. This pocket of the pop-up is also home to the fragrance bar for endless spritzing as they discover which scent they're willing to take a chance on.
More Instagram moments await capturing through the dreamlike hallways. In the final room, for £60, visitors can book a Chance Beauty Service - a 1-hour and 15-minute makeover session. Choose from five looks inspired by the fragrance family: Magnetic, Audacious, Fresh, Delicate, or Bright. Each is paired with its mood and colour palette.
On 1 May, Chanel is hosting an exclusive Chance Street Soirée from 6.30 pm to 8.30 pm. Expect cocktails, a live DJ, immersive fragrance exploration and a luxury goodie bag. Tickets are £60, redeemable against purchases.
As a sweet surprise, Chanel will be handing out complimentary candy floss in the last room of the pop-up, inspired by the playful notes of Chance Eau Splendide. A whimsical nod to the fragrance’s purple identity.
