Davines has opened its first House & Academy at Kings Cross in London, allowing the professional haircare brand to train more hairdressers in the UK.

Founded in 1983, the Davines Group started as a research laboratory, formulating high-end beauty products for cosmetic companies worldwide. After a decade, the group created its own brand called Davines, specialising in professional haircare and colour.

Davines has partnered with Ena salon for over 15 years ago to train hairdressers across a variety of educational courses. The new academy has been created to host additional training courses and workshops to further spread the brand's expertise and sustainability message.

The 4,600 sq ft space features over 30,000 individual plants across the site, including a plant wall crafted from monsteras, pothos, philodendrons, prayer plants and asplenium ferns. In addition, all timber is made from recyclable materials, cushion covers from reused plastic bottles and curtains from sustainably sourced fabrics.

An intelligent daylighting system has also been installed, which is designed to boost employees’ wellbeing by automatically adjusting light levels according to external conditions.

Matt Martin, General Manager of Davines UK & Ireland, said: "Community is at the heart of who we are as Davines, and the building of our new House and Academy in London creates a home for our people and our partners.

"Our purpose-built academy will enable us to train more hairdressers than ever before, alongside our portfolio of courses available through our regional academy partners. We’re incredibly excited to be opening our home and start writing the next chapter for Davines in the UK and Republic of Ireland."
