Teen beauty brand indu has secured a $4 million investment to support its physical retail expansion in the UK.

The new investment marks the company's first institutional funding round, led by Unilever Ventures and V3 Ventures, supported by a number of leading industry investor angels.

Aaron Chatterley, Co-founder of indu, said: "Bringing in two incredible venture funds in Unilever Ventures and V3 with such strong experience in backing and scaling some iconic beauty and consumer brands was really the dream ticket for us.

"Raising money in the current economic climate is not easy, so closing this round is a testament to the very clear opportunity that indu has to create a category- defining beauty brandf or teens."

Launched in 2023, indu is formulated for teens, with teens, creating products suitable for all skin tones and types.

The brand stocks a range of refillable skincare, including cleansers, moisturisers, masks, a scrub and a spot treatment, as well as colourless and colour cosmetics, such as lip oils, a brow gel, eye shadows and lip and cheek tints, amongst other items.

It also launched a education hub to help young people navigate "all things teen beauty" earlier this year, covering topics from skincare basics to trending step-by-step makeup looks.

With a mission to "break down beauty buzz words, decode teen skin terminology and recreate the hottest trends", the brand hopes the platform creates a safe space for young people to discover and learn how to care for their skin and personalise their look.

Anna Ohlsson-Baskerville, Partner at Unilever Ventures, said: "We are thrilled to partner with indu as they fill the gap in the market for premium, healthy teen-first beauty.

"By creating a line that is for teens, by teens, indu has found a way to bring them the aspirational products that they need and want while providing parents with the reassurance that they are designed specifically for teen skin."

Jimmy Dietz, Partner at V3 Ventures, added: "We are incredibly impressed with the indu team and its dedication to creating safe and appropriate products specifically tailored to teenage skin and lifestyles.

"Its commitment to addressing the unique needs of teenagers sets them apart in the beauty industry, and we're very excited to support its mission."
