Jacob Elordi joins Margot Robbie on screen for Chanel N°5 campaign
Last month, luxury powerhouse Chanel revealed that Barbie star Margot Robbie would be the new face of its iconic Chanel N°5 perfume. Now, it has been revealed that Saltburn and Euphoria star Jacob Elordi will be joining Margot Robbie on screen.
N°5 was the first perfume launched by Gabrielle Chanel in 1921. The formula for the fragrance was compounded by French-Russian chemist and perfumer Ernest Beaux and is still as popular as it was 100 years ago. Robbie's new role sees her become part of the lineage of great actresses who have embodied the essence of this unique scent over the years - from Nicole Kidman to Lily-Rose Depp.
The last campaign film was released four years ago, with Marion Cotillard who has now passed on the N°5 baton to Robbie.
The new campaign film called ‘See You at 5’ was shot by the legendary Luca Guadagnino. It depicts a rendez-vous with Robbie and Elordi – an onscreen romance we’ve all been waiting for.
The storyline of the short film transforms a romantic back-and-forth into a memorable tale with an epic feminist resolution.
Robbie is seen frolicking barefoot under a blue, vinyl-like sky, languishing in California's warm breeze. Elordi rides his motorcycle down the road to Big Sur, "enchanted by this woman with a radiant smile and magnetic aura".
She hops in her convertible, following the curves of the road and moves towards him, however, they just miss each other and alas, the highly anticipated rendezvous doesn't' take place.
Robbie then dives into the ocean (aka a bottle of N°5). Here, she is fulfilled and independent despite not crossing paths with Elordi. Playing yet another strong leading lady, Robbie brings the focus back to her femininity, free from any need for external validation.
