Jane Lauder to step down from Estée Lauder
Jane Lauder is reportedly stepping down from her role as Chief Data Officer and Executive Vice President of Enterprise Marketing at The Estée Lauder Companies.
Lauder has held her current role since July 2020, leading a global team in accelerating the company's enterprise-wide marketing, data and technology strategies.
She has also previously served as Global Brand President at several Estée Lauder-owned brands, including Clinique and Origins.
At Clinique, Lauder is credited for increasing its online sales and launching a skin diagnostic tool called Clinique Clinical Reality, amongst other achievements.
Following her departure at the end of this year, she will remain an active member of the board of directors at the company, which was founded by her grandmother, Estée Lauder, in 1946.
In an internal memo seen by WWD, Lauder said: "The company is embarking on a necessary and fundamental turnaround.
"I have thought about how I can be most effective in helping the company reclaim its rightful position as the world's leader in prestige beauty and restore long term shareholder value," reads
Lauder explained that she will be available "as an advisor to the CEO on The Profit Recovery & Growth Plan efforts through the end of ELC's fiscal year," and that she intends to work solely as a board member and committed shareholder.
"This change will allow me to have the greatest impact and influence on ELC's future," she added. "In this role, I intend to focus on the company's strategic imperatives, growth profile, and the requisite transformational change."
Her departure comes as speculation swirls around the next leader of the company, after Fabrizio Freda revealed in August that he will retire by the end of next year.
Until his successor is appointed, Freda continues to lead and oversee the company’s strategic, financial and investment priorities, including its Profit Recovery & Growth Plan.
