Klarna reveals shopping growth in Black Friday data

Global payments and shopping platform Klarna has released its Black Friday and Cyber Monday data, sharing statistics on this year's purchases and price drops.

Compared to last year, the data shows that retailers' sales through Klarna grew by 48% during the Black Friday week and 53% during Cyber Monday.

Klarna identified the most purchased categories across Black Friday week, which included jewellery and accessories, health and beauty, children products and clothing and shoes.

Northern Ireland, London and the North East registered the highest sales growth compared to an average day. The most popular category in relation to the national average was health and beauty in Northern Ireland, clothing and shoes in London and jewellery and accessories in the North East.

Survey data also found that 70% of UK shoppers planned to do some of their holiday shopping during the sales. On average, UK shoppers were looking to make 17% of their total holiday shopping on Black Friday alone.
