La Roche-Posay named exclusive suncare supplier for Wimbledon in new sun safety partnership
Skincare brand La Roche-Posay has been named the exclusive suncare supplier for The Championships, Wimbledon, as part of a new partnership focused on promoting sun safety and skin health during the tournament.
The collaboration brings together the All England Lawn Tennis Club and La Roche-Posay at a time when awareness of skin cancer prevention remains a public health priority.
According to the brand, melanoma rates in the UK have increased by approximately 30% over the past decade, while an estimated 90% of cases are considered preventable through measures such as effective sun protection and limiting excessive UV exposure.
As one of the UK's largest outdoor sporting events, Wimbledon attracts hundreds of thousands of spectators during the summer. Through the partnership, La Roche-Posay aims to increase access to sun protection products while encouraging greater awareness of sun-safe behaviours among visitors and the wider public.
During the two-week tournament, the brand expects to distribute more than 500,000 sunscreen samples across the Grounds. Visitors will also be able to experience La Roche-Posay's GAME. SET. PROTECT. activation, which will feature product information, educational content, expert-led guidance on sun safety, interactive experiences, competitions and prize giveaways.
Usama Al-Qassab, Marketing & Commercial Director at the All England Club, said: "We are delighted to welcome La Roche-Posay as our Exclusive Suncare Supplier for The Championships.
"We look forward to showcasing our shared values of guardianship by promoting sun-safe behaviour here at Wimbledon. The free suncare samples from La Roche-Posay alongside our plentiful water stations and increased shade and shelter provision will care for our guests better than ever."
Caroline O’Neill, Managing Director of L’Oréal Dermatological Beauty UK, added: "At L’Oréal Dermatological Beauty, we believe that skin health is a fundamental pillar of overall well-being. Just as Wimbledon is dedicated to protecting the absolute highest standards of the game, La Roche-Posay is committed to protecting skin health through pioneering dermatological science and our most advanced UV filtering technology.
"With melanoma rates in the UK rising, this partnership allows us to champion vital sun-safety education on a truly world-class stage, ensuring that protecting your skin is as integral to a summer day out as enjoying the tennis itself."
The partnership is also supported by renowned tennis player Jannik Sinner, a global brand advocate for La Roche-Posay's Anthelios range. Through his work with the brand, Sinner promotes awareness of daily sun protection and encourages healthy skincare habits both on and off the court.
