Lancôme has appointed American supermodel Christy Turlington as its new Global Ambassador.

The L’Oréal-owned brand said the 57-year-old was selected for her "innate femininity, proactive advocacy, and spirited outlook", qualities it described as closely aligned with Lancôme’s values.

In a statement, Turlington Burns said she has long admired the brand’s heritage and its focus on celebrating women at every stage of life.

She added that Lancôme’s emphasis on purpose-driven values resonates with her own long-standing commitment to women’s health and well-being, and described the partnership as an opportunity to "use beauty as a platform for positive change".

Turlington rose to international prominence during the late 1980s supermodel era and has since appeared on more than 500 magazine covers, working with many of renowned fashion brands.

In addition to her modeling career, she is known for her maternal health advocacy. She founded the nonprofit organisation Every Mother Counts and has also established herself as a filmmaker, author, and wellness advocate.

Vania Lacascade, Global Brand President at Lancôme, said: "We are thrilled to welcome Christy into our collective.

"Her conscious optimism, sense of purpose and commitment to supporting women across generations perfectly embody Lancôme’s values. We are endlessly inspired by her grace, wisdom and ability to create meaningful connections across communities."

Turlington joins Lancôme’s line-up of global ambassadors, which includes Julia Roberts, Olivia Rodrigo and Aya Nakamura.
