Laura Ashley appeals to lenders for more cash to stay afloat

Laura Ashley faces collapse unless it can secure £15m of emergency cash by the end of this month and has lined up PwC to act as administrator - putting 2,700 jobs at risk.

The retailer - known for its floral curtains and wallpaper - said it is in advanced talks with a possible lender, understood to be private equity firm Hilco. However, PwC is posed to step in and take charge if the talks fail to deliver.
