Liberty has appointed Alex Pregnolato as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO), effective immediately.

Pregnolato brings international leadership experience across the global luxury retail sector, most recently serving as CFO and Head of Transformation at De Beers, and previously as CFO for Versace Americas.

With deep expertise in financial strategy, transformation and operational efficiency, Pregnolato “will play a key role in supporting Liberty’s long-term growth and strategic ambitions”.

Adil Mehboob Khan, CEO of Liberty, said: “Alex comes from the top end of luxury and is a global asset, having worked and lived in the UK and across Europe, the Americas and Asia.

“As Liberty’s international appeal continues to grow, and our luxury brand is expanding globally, Alex brings financial and operational expertise that will help us accelerate further the business and bring Liberty magic to new customers and regions.

Pregnolato added: “Liberty is a growing business with incredible heritage. It’s a powerful brand and is an authority in retail and design.

“I am delighted to join such an iconic and well loved company at an important moment, and look forward to working with Adil and the leadership team to drive profitable growth, deliver the strategy and contribute my personal experience in global markets and in luxury operating models.”

Pregnolato’s appointment follows last week’s news that Liberty has appointed Lydia King as Managing Director of Retail, succeeding Sarah Coonan, who will leave the British department store at the end of the month.

King was most recently Group Buying & Merchandising Director at Liberty, where she played a central role in shaping the retailer’s buying strategy - leading teams across fashion, beauty and lifestyle.

In her new position, she will retain responsibility for Liberty’s buying and merchandising, while also overseeing Liberty’s flagship store.
