Lookfantastic has published its annual Beauty Trends Report, revealing the top beauty trends, brands and products of 2023 alongside its predictions for 2024.

MAC Cosmetics has been named as the biggest beauty brand of 2023, with 214,477 shoppers having searched for the brand on Lookfantastic this year.

The report also revealed CeraVe and La Roche-Posay as the second and third most popular beauty brands, with more consumers prioritise skincare over makeup or haircare.

Drunk Elephant

Drunk Elephant has been announced as the biggest exploding brand of 2023, with a 480% increase in site searches since 2022. This was joined by Glow Hub, Sol de Janeiro, Kitsch, and Colour Wow.

Meanwhile, the most popular beauty products of the year include Sol de Janeiro's Bum Bum Cream, The Ordinary's Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution, and Colour Wow's Dream Coat.

2024 trend predictions

Overnight miracles - consumers are prioritising efficiency and Lookfantastic anticipates 'overnight miracles' to become dominant in the sector as customers place greater emphasis on beauty that caters to time-poor, fast-paced routines.

Dermatological skincare - consumers will seek recommendations from experts in the medical field, with ingredient-led routines, microbiome and skin barrier support expected to be at the forefront of this trend.

Exploding microtrends - consumers are looking for suggested products to create trending makeup looks. Lookfantastic believes that trend-led purchases will continue to boom in 2024, with brands releasing new products to tap into them.

Other predictions include a continued emphasis on sustainability and eco-conscious beauty routines, customised haircuts, starting skincare young, and closing the gap between skincare and makeup.

The Lookfantatic Beauty Trends Report for 2023 has been developed through analysis of internal product data, as well as the most searched-for products on TikTok and Google.
