L’Oréal Group has unveiled two new technologies that apply light-based innovation to haircare and skincare: the Light Straight + Multi-styler and an LED Face Mask.

Both products were introduced at CES 2026 and are positioned as part of the company’s ongoing research into beauty technology and longevity science.

The Light Straight + Multi-styler uses patented infrared light technology designed to deliver styling results at lower temperatures. According to L’Oréal, the device’s glass plates straighten hair while remaining below 320°F, which the company says is lower than the temperatures used by many conventional straighteners.

Developed by L’Oréal Research & Innovation, the handheld styler uses near-infrared light to reshape hydrogen bonds within the hair - structures that influence hair shape and texture. L’Oréal states that this approach is intended to help maintain smoother cuticles and reduce damage while achieving desired styling effects.

The device is also equipped with internal sensors and proprietary algorithms supported by machine learning, allowing it to adapt to user movements and styling habits.

With the introduction of the Light Straight + Multi-styler, L’Oréal expands its infrared-based hairstyling portfolio, which already includes the AirLight Pro, first presented at CES 2024. The Light Straight + Multi-styler is expected to launch globally in 2027.

In skincare, L’Oréal also presented a prototype LED Face Mask. The ultra-thin, flexible silicone mask is designed to deliver red and near-infrared light directly to the skin.

The company said ongoing testing aims to demonstrate benefits such as improved skin firmness, smoother texture, and more even tone.

The mask incorporates a transparent support structure with an embedded, skin-safe microcircuit that controls two specific wavelengths: red light at 630 nanometers and near-infrared light at 830 nanometers. Each treatment session is designed to last 10 minutes and is automatically timed. L’Oréal expects the LED Face Mask to launch in 2027.

Barbara Lavernos, Deputy CEO in charge of Research, Innovation and Technology at L'Oréal Group, said: :At L'Oréal, we've always believed that beauty is deeply connected to scientific discovery, a belief that has been central to our company since its inception over 115 years ago.

"Today, we tirelessly combine the latest scientific and technological breakthroughs with our creativity to craft innovative beauty experiences that are more effective and tailored to individual needs. This year, our pioneering advancements in light technologies at CES 2026 once again demonstrate our commitment to pushing the boundaries of new beauty solutions."
